Brenda Fletcher (Klein)

The first year my 19 year old son drove he hit a dog that ran out in front of him (dog's okay), ran over a small tree in the neighborhood sliding on ice, had to replace all 4 tires and wheels when he wrecked grabbing something that slid on his seat and went off in a ditch when we had a foot of snow. My 22 year old daughter on the other hand has a clean driving record. My experience, girls are much safer drivers. Now my son is one of the safest drivers I know. He tells "me" not to text while I'm driving. Safe driving comes with lots of experience. Both my kids drive long distances now. I still worry, but it does get easier with time.

I know how you feel Carrie. I think getting her permit early and alot of experience with you in the car is key to success. The more difficult part comes when she gets her license and drives by herself. As parents we worry, but we have to let them go sometime. Just hang in there....cause the worry doesn't go away. Congratulations on another milestone for your daughter!

Hey Brenda & Barbara - Thanks for the words of advise. I guess I keep thinking of my driving experiences and remember about the guys racing down West St and McLean Blvd, 4 wheelin', etc! I think Shan will be a great driver in time... We didn't really drive until we were in high school. Everything happens so much earlier for these kids. She's saving for a car so the mom's looking for a good used TANK!!!! LOL

Hey Carrie. I know we've talked about this before but I gotta tell ya if it's any consolation, it doesn't get any easier if it's your 1st or your 5th!! Just be glad Shannon is living on the far east side of Wichita since MY son is driving on the west side now!! He has just joined the 'I'm 15 and can drive now and so can all my buddies who also just turned 15 within the same month' club and thinks he is a pro. He's wrecked our golf cart 3 times (and that's just in the neighborhood) so I'm more than apprehensive when he pulls out of the drive. It's always a good day if he doesn't take out the trash cans or the mail box! Gotta see the positive...right?

Hey Dana - Thanks for the wise words and yes it is comforting to know it doesn't matter if it's your 1st driver or 5th, we still stress about it:D So far, so good. I'm grateful we live in Andover and not Wichita. Small town = easier driving experience. The streets practically roll up after 7pm.....so I'll take her driving after 8pm!!! LOL Hey, if she learns how to drive well in the dark, she'll be amazing during the day! LOL

I'm so glad classmates are still cking our website even after the reunion. It was nice to see all the Thanksgiving posts....so glad to spend it with my family but gotta tell ya after a long weekend of family I'm also thankful for old friends. I'm so glad for all the friends I hadn't seen in so many years that I got to see at the Reunion....we are a lucky class that we get a second chance at old friendships.

Hey Brian - I remember Chris and also remember Terry from Truesdell? I don't see anything wrong with adding them. They were part of our lives during our school days. I'll try to get them added this week.
Does anyone have any pictures of either of them?

Hey everyone! I hope everyone is happily getting ready for the holidays.
We have classmates that need some extra prayer and positive thoughts now.
David Dixon - A mass was found near his windpipe that is cancer. He started chemo treatments Friday.
Vinell Howard - Her only son was diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma and met with the Oncologist Friday.
Janna Parker Kaba - Her son Brock is currently in Afghanistan fighting for our freedoms.

If you know of anyone else in need of positive thought and prayer, please post :D

A quote from Charles H. Spurgeon:
"Anxiety does not empty tomorrow of its sorrows,
but only empties today of its strength."

Praying for peace and strength to those who are struggling and hoping for the best outcome for all the families.

Thank you Carrie for keeping us posted on our classmates.
Blessings.
